What is an internship closed caption writer?

Internship Closed Caption Writers are individuals, usually students or recent graduates, who are gaining work experience by creating accurate subtitles for audio and video content. Their main responsibility is to transcribe spoken words, sound effects, and relevant audio cues into written text displayed on screen, making media accessible to deaf or hard-of-hearing audiences. These internships help writers develop strong listening, typing, and language skills while learning about industry standards and captioning software. The role may involve working with television, film, educational materials, or online content. Interns often collaborate with editors or other media professionals to ensure captions are clear, timed correctly, and error-free.

Familiarity with captioning software such as Adobe Premiere, Aegisub, or similar tools is typically expected. Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure captions are accurate, timely, and accessible, which is critical for content accessibility and compliance.

Location: Sioux Falls, SD (on-site)
Experience Required: 0-2 years in marketing, social, or content
About the Role
Wild Oak Boutique - one of the fastest-growing women's fashion brands - is hiring a Marketing Coordinator to help bring our brand to life every day. This is a hands-on, creative role for someone with an eye for what looks good, a love of fashion, and the drive to learn how a modern e-commerce marketing team actually works.
You will work alongside our content, social, email, and paid media people, supporting campaigns from the first idea to what goes live. We move fast, so your work reaches customers in days, not quarters. If you are creative, organized, and hungry to build a portfolio, there is a lot of room here.
What You Will Do
  • Concept and create content for social, email, and the site: product photography, short-form video, graphics, and copy.
  • Help plan and build the promotional calendar for new arrivals, launches, sales, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Draft and schedule email and SMS campaigns, keeping every send on brand and on time.
  • Post, caption, and engage across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest.
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots: scheduling, product pulls, styling, and organizing the final assets.
  • Support the creator and affiliate program by sending product, tracking content, and keeping creators on schedule.
  • Keep product pages and site merchandising accurate and looking their best.
  • Pull performance reports so the team knows what is working and what is not.

What We Are Looking For
  • A real creative eye. Show us your work: accounts you have run, content you have made, a portfolio, or a project you are proud of.
  • Strong writing. You can write a caption or a subject line that sounds like a person, not a template.
  • 0-2 years of marketing, social, or content experience. Internships, freelance work, and running your own accounts all count.
  • Comfort with Canva or Adobe tools, and native fluency with Instagram and TikTok.
  • Organized and dependable, able to juggle several campaigns without dropping details.
  • Genuine interest in fashion and retail, and a willingness to learn the data side of marketing.
  • Bonus: experience with Shopify, Klaviyo or a similar email platform, or photo and video editing.

Why Wild Oak
You will sit with a small team where your ideas actually reach the customer. This role is a starting point, not a ceiling - we would rather grow marketers here than hire around them.
Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Wild Oak Boutique is a rapidly expanding e-commerce destination curating an ever-evolving collection of apparel, footwear, and accessories tailored to women. While our growth has been rapid, it hasn't altered our core identity. Situated in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Wild Oak Boutique remains a family-owned business.
Whether you're embarking on your career journey or a seasoned professional seeking fresh challenges, we provide a diverse range of inspiring and stimulating career paths. Our unwavering commitment is to cultivate a secure, equitable, and respectful atmosphere.
