Role Overview

The Worship Production Director gives leadership to all the technical elements necessary to produce live and online worship services and ministry events. This includes recruiting, developing, planning, and supervising worship services as well as giving oversight to campus audio, video, lighting, stage design, editing and multi-media needs of the church in The Cross Churchs high-performance culture and mission to spread Gods fame by making disciples of all people. The Worship Production Director reports to the Creative Arts Pastor.

Wednesday/ Saturday/ Sunday
approximately 8-10 hours
*The schedule for this position may vary depending upon weekend assignments and ministry events that occur in the evenings and on weekends. More than 40 hours per week will be necessary and expected at times.
Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Partner with the Worship Arts Ministry Team to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness to execute the overall vision and mission of the church.
  • Provide vision, strategy, and passion in the production of worship services and in the development of stage designs in partnership with Worship Arts Ministry Team.
  • Collaborate with others on the creative team to execute production needs.
  • Produce authentic, culturally relevant, and diverse worship experiences.
  • Recruit, equip and schedule production staff and volunteers.
  • Give training, support, discipleship, and oversight to teams that support worship services, ministry events and outside activities including stage design, production, post-production, audio, visual, lighting, video, and online broadcast.
  • Facilitate content for digital media, print, and social media that supports the worship ministry.
  • Steward technical equipment with care, including the maintenance of an accurate inventory with serial numbers, equipment inspections and oversight of repairs and/or replacements.
  • Assist with the planning and installation of audio, visual, lighting, and structured cabling.
  • Provide routine maintenance for all equipment.
  • Plan equipment needs (lighting, sound, and video) for off-campus events.
  • Plan for future technological advancements.
  • Prepare and administer the worship production budget, maintaining accurate and complete records for ministry expenses.
  • Attend Creative Team Meetings, Production Meetings, Chapel, Staff Meetings, and any other meetings that require support from the Worship Arts Ministry Team.
  • Foster a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers and church families.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills
  • Agreement with The Cross Churchs faith statement and mission to spread Gods fame by making disciples of all people.
  • Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
  • Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.
  • A personal conviction and calling to church ministry.
  • Passionate about excellence in production.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Worship Production or similar role required.
  • A degree in Creative Arts and/or Production preferred.
  • Proficiency in image magnification, audio mixing and video production.
  • Experience with video production equipment, software and technical systems maintenance and use.
  • Experience with live streaming services.
  • Proficiency in lighting and visual graphic software (ProPresenter, MA Light, Waves multi-rack or plugins, DMX, Art-Net).
  • Knowledge of Rigging, Motors, and Safety Equipment.
  • Front of House audio engineer experience with knowledge of Yamaha Digital Consoles and Dante Networking is a plus.
  • An avid learner and innovator with a desire to grow and lead church technology to new levels.
  • Proficiency in both a Mac and Windows operating system environment required.
  • Proven ability to recruit and lead people and teams is essential.
  • Team oriented, relational, and self-motivated.
  • Proactive, strong work ethic, dependable, reliable and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • An effective troubleshooter who can keep calm under pressure.
  • Able to handle multiple moving parts of service production efficiently and effectively.

  • Church membership is expected.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly, including the ability to operate a lift, reaching overhead, horizontally and above the shoulders, carrying, pulling, and pushing object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds, and climbing to build stage designs.
  • Passing criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks required.
