Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Senior Audio Engineer in Miramar, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for providing advanced acoustic engineering solutions for audio systems, products, and equipment.
Essential Functions
  • Complete complex acoustic designs for Garmin or OEM products independently with general guidance from others to accomplish technical and project goals
  • Leads projects, provides guidance, and mentors less experienced audio engineers
  • Design core acoustic components and systems
  • Perform acoustic simulations to achieve best performance with the most efficient designs
  • Select components and perform product development and release activities to qualify and place new products into mass production
  • Create Bill of Materials (BOMs), testing documents, qualification/verification procedures related to audio product manufacturing
  • Simulate acoustic components and assemblies; judge results and modify accordingly
  • Prototype and test audio products using specialized audio equipment
  • Perform audio tuning using in-house and external tools
  • Design and/or support in-house development applications and/or equipment used for audio optimization, product qualification, etc.
  • Work with a cross functional team of hardware and firmware engineers allowing test and debug of complete audio systems
  • Provide technical assistance and support to customer support and technical training teams where needed
  • Maintain configuration control of documentation for products in production and interface with available drafting and document control resources
  • Apply design standards and procedures to implement complex designs
  • Identify and resolve defects of complex scope using proper engineering tools and techniques

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technology field AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant audio engineering experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a team environment
  • Previous work or internship experience in design, particularly for consumer products
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Audio systems repair or troubleshooting experience
