ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EXTRACURRICULAR VACANCY
POSITION: Beginning Teacher Mentor - General Science & Chemistry
LOCATION: Lewis County High School
CERTIFICATION: Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience
2. Satisfactory evaluations for the past five (5) years
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare and deliver an orientation program for the beginning intern to be conducted prior to the beginning of the instructional term, but within the employment term (unless beginning intern is hired after the beginning of the instructional term)
2. Observe the classroom teaching skills of the beginning intern for at least one-hour per week during the first half of the mentoring program and which may be reduced at the discretion of the mentor to one-hour every two-weeks during the second half of the mentoring program
3. Conduct weekly meetings with the beginning intern to discuss the performance of the beginning intern and any improvements. Such meetings may be reduced at the discretion of the mentor to biweekly meetings during the second half the school year
4. Conduct monthly meetings of the professional support team to discuss the performance of the beginning intern
5. Complete and submit all paperwork, as requested,relating to the beginning internship program
6. Must attend any state required county/state training sessions
7. Internship must consist of two full semesters
COMPENSATION: $100.00/month not to exceed $1000.00 (based on submittal of monthly paperwork)
*Compensation is discontinued if the intern resigns; not to exceed current school year
