Opportunity
A high-volume asphalt, grading, concrete, and pavement maintenance contractor is seeking a Project Controls & Operations Engineer to support scheduling, procurement, estimating coordination, and operational execution across 1,000+ projects annually throughout Southern California.
The Project Controls & Operations Engineer will support the transition of projects from estimating into operations while helping improve operational scalability as the company continues growing from approximately $25M to $30M+ in annual revenue.
The role works directly under the Head of Operations and receives mentorship from operations leadership, estimating, dispatch, procurement, and field teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Support transition of awarded projects from estimating into operations
- Schedule awarded projects within 48 hours of handoff and coordinate startup readiness
- Maintain and update operational schedules and project tracking systems
- Identify scheduling conflicts, procurement gaps, and operational risks
- Coordinate procurement including materials, subcontractors, trucking, and equipment
- Support dispatch coordination and operational resource planning
- Assist with constructability reviews, phasing analysis, and production planning
- Review plans, specifications, and project details to support execution planning
- Coordinate schedules and updates with customers, contractors, and internal teams
- Support estimating and preconstruction alignment activities
- Utilize operational systems including STACK, Velocity, Foundations, Google Workspace, Samsara, and Fleetio
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong problem-solving and coordination abilities
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and construction software systems
- Preferred
- 1–2 years of internship or construction-related experience
- Exposure to estimating, scheduling, or project coordination
- Field experience in asphalt, grading, concrete, or heavy civil construction
