Job description

QUALITY ASSURANCE INTERNSHIP (PAID)
 
MUST BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN COLLEGE.
MUST BE A JUNIOR OR SENIOR IN COLLEGE.
MUST BE LEGALLY ABLE TO WORK IN THE U.S.
 
PURPOSE –
Support existing Quality Assurance System. May create, develop and execute the facilities quality system which ensures a safe and wholesome product that meets and exceeds customer expectations. Create, develop and validate the facilities master sanitation program that meets all good manufacturing practices and regulating authority requirements. 
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY –
1.     Support Quality Assurance Manager and Food Safety Manager implement quality system that includes HACCP. Develop and update system as needed.
2.     Encourage and enforce high quality standards that include GMP enforcement and ensure adherence to product quality specifications.
3.     Observe and enforce GMPs on the plant floor.
4.     Coordinate and support sanitation when necessary.
5.     Create, develop and maintain an “audit” file to be presented to outside auditors that meets BRC standards.
6.     Check-in product labels, cartons, and film.
7.     Coordinate shelf-life studies, product testing, product evaluations and products comparisons.
8.     Coordinate test blends and samples with blending and production.
9.     Act as back up for QC techs on the production floor, when necessary.
10. Responsible for mailing samples to Merieux Nutrisciences (Silliker) when necessary.
11. Maintain a positive team member relationship with all LFFP team members
12. Complies with all company policies and procedures created to ensure the production of high-quality food-safe products.
13. Is responsible for supporting all daily activities related to the quality, food safety, and legality of all food products manufactured at this site. 
 
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES-
·        BS degree in a related field of study and/or prior experience
·         Lean, six sigma experience and/or other problem-solving training
·        Interpersonal management skills
·        General Lab Experience
·        Computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite
·        Excellent written and oral communication skills
·        Working knowledge of Industrial Safety or related discipline.
 
DIMENSIONS –
·        Reduction in quality HOLD and/or product rework
·        “Superior” ratings in sanitation audits
·        Supporting product quality levels that meet and/or exceed customer expectations
·        Liaison and support to quality assurance, food safety and sanitation.
