Job description

Resp & Qualifications

The intern is an integral member of the Specialty Business Unit and part of the larger Core Markets & Diversified Solutions Division at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. This team is responsible for the Dental and Vision Lines of Business, including Dental Network management.

Ideally this opportunity would run as a year-round internship program. The ideal candidate is someone who can work throughout the year up to 15-20 hours in the Fall/Spring AND full time (35 to 40) in the summer. The target start date for this internship will be September 2026. This is a remote internship with opportunity to come into the office once per week.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITES

Seek to learn and understand Dental and Vision business.

Analyze and gather competitive intelligence information for differing lines of business (Dental, Vision)

Support Dental Network management data input, analysis of basic data reporting

Support credentialing and recredentialing processes.

Develop and maintain excel spreadsheets to produce meaningful insights from the data

Create PowerPoint presentations and support departmental projects and initiatives

Provide crucial quality checks of system outputs

Attend various meetings and participate in team activities

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and vendors as needed.

Support RFPs - Dental Network, Repricing, and Geoanalysis

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: This position requires an individual working towards a Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University. Junior or Senior Undergraduate or Graduate level student targeting majors in Marketing, Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Relations or Economics with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Highly motivated self -starter who can work independently with little direction and be able to work independently to accomplish assigned tasks.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deliverables across varying deadlines.

Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

Experience using Microsoft Office products, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, PowerBI, SharePoint or Microsoft Power Apps) and the Internet

Strong research skills-Ability to search internet and have a desire/interest in healthcare
