Quality Assurance Center | Data & Insights - On site role
Purpose & Impact
The Analyst I is an early-career, data-driven problem solver who helps power smarter, faster decisions across Steak 'n Shake. This role sits at the intersection of data, technology, and operations-supporting the transformation of financial and operational data into insights that improve performance, consistency, and quality at scale.
This is a growth-oriented role for someone eager to build strong analytical foundations, develop modern reporting capabilities, and learn how data informs real-world business decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Work will be performed on-site at our corporate campus.
What You'll Do
  • Support the development and maintenance of recurring and ad-hoc reports that combine financial, operational, and performance data
  • Review, reconcile, and validate datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Assist in building and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and scorecards used by leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Analyze historical and current data to identify trends, variances, and performance drivers
  • Support forecasting models, projections, and scenario analyses used for planning and decision-making
  • Translate analytical findings into clear summaries and visual presentations for stakeholders
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support data-driven initiatives and reporting needs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping improve data structure, documentation, and analytical workflows
  • Assist with internal audits, data validation, and quality assurance activities
  • Participate in special projects such as sales forecasting, wage and labor market analysis, and store-level optimization

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Quantitative Economics, or a related analytical discipline
  • 1-3 years of experience in data analysis, business analytics, or a similar quantitative role (internships and relevant project work considered)
  • Working knowledge of SQL preferred; exposure to analytical or statistical techniques is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis and modeling
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for communication and presentation
  • Strong attention to detail with solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities
  • Demonstrates curiosity, humility, and a desire to learn and grow
  • Passionate about using data and technology to drive better outcomes
