Job description

Chaincode Labs is seeking an Research Intern in cryptography, networking, distributed systems, security, or related areas of interest. Chaincode's mission is to support and develop Bitcoin and other peer-to-peer decentralized systems. Chaincode has leading open-source developers and researchers, and offers a supportive, collaborative, and intellectually engaging environment for curious and motivated individuals.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct original research and to disseminate results both internally and externally through academic publications, seminar presentations, and technical documentation. Applicants should demonstrate a strong record of independent research, including the ability to formulate research questions, design appropriate methodologies, and carry projects through to completion. Chaincode seeks to integrate the expertise of researchers and engineers to address a broad range of challenging problems in Bitcoin and related systems, and interns will be encouraged to publish their work in top-tier conferences and peer-reviewed journals.

Chaincode Labs, located in New York City, contributes extensively to open-source software, coordinates development efforts across the broader open-source ecosystem, supports the training and mentorship of new engineers, conducts original research, and develops implementations of novel systems and ideas. The organization is well funded and well staffed, with the capacity to produce production-quality software and provide critical infrastructure support.

Applicants should be currently pursuing a PhD degree or engaged in postdoctoral research. The internship duration will be between two and three months, depending on candidate's availability and the scope of the proposed research project.
