Advanced Automation for Battery Production Internship
Are you passionate about advancing smart manufacturing through digital twins, automation, and industrial AI? Do you want to help build the next generation of intelligent battery manufacturing systems? This internship offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of modeling, automation, simulation and real-time industrial operations.
Join our collaborative research and development team at Princeton NJ, or Charlotte NC, where you will contribute to the development and deployment of cutting-edge digital and automation solutions for pilot-scale battery manufacturing. You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and industry stakeholders to solve real-world challenges and accelerate innovation. You will have the opportunity to test your knowledge in a challenging problem-solving environment. You will be encouraged to think out of the box, innovate and find solutions to real-life problems. This role is based on-site in Princeton, NJ or Charlotte, NC.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and enhance automation digital twin models (physics-based, data-driven, hybrid) for battery manufacturing.
  • Support design and implementation of industrial automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, sensors) / IT/OT architecture
  • Perform simulations and what-if analysis to improve process performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate across research, automation, and process teams.
  • Document work and support technical demos and knowledge transfer.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing MS/PhD in Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with / Familiarity with Siemens Technomatix Plant Sim and Process Sim, NX modeling, simulation, or automation systems; CAD tools e.g., AutoCAD etc.
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python or similar).
  • Understanding manufacturing data, sensors, and system integration.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to PLCs, SCADA, or industrial systems.
  • Experience with data analytics or AI in industrial contexts.
  • Knowledge of battery manufacturing or pilot-line environments.
  • Experience with Siemens Technomatix Plant Sim, Process Sim tools
