The Opportunity

In this role, you will join Hitachi Energy's Grid Automation team and begin building your career in the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) field within the power grid industry, supporting operations across North America (NAM). This is an exciting opportunity for early career professionals or recent graduates who are passionate about developing a long-term career in HSE and want hands-on experience in both office and field environments. You will work alongside experienced HSE professionals and operational teams, gaining extensive practical training while supporting safety programs, participating in risk assessments, assisting with data collection and reporting, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Your work will help foster a strong safety culture and support compliance with company and regulatory requirements, directly contributing to the safety, reliability, and environmental responsibility of critical grid infrastructure. How You'll Make an Impact
  • Support the implementation of HSE policies, standards, and Life Saving Rules across operations

Your Background
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety preferred
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience (including internships or early-career roles)
  • Foundational understanding of workplace safety and environmental principles
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work across diverse stakeholders
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset; electrical background or exposure is a plus
  • Ability to accommodate up to 50% travel, including overnight and multi-week project site assignments as business needs require.
