Our Wireless Technology team is pioneering the future of connectivity. We're developing and enhancing a unique hybrid network model—combining our advanced, cloud-native 5G core with the nationwide reach of our partners. This approach ensures our network is flexible and powerful, designed to satisfy the social, economic, and transformative needs of the changing world.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview, which may include a live whiteboarding or technical assessment session. 

As a Public Cloud Support Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting, operating, and optimizing AWS-based cloud infrastructure that underpins DISH’s cloud-native 5G network. This role blends hands-on technical troubleshooting with operational excellence, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across AWS environments. As a Cloud Operations Engineer I, you will focus on the day-to-day health of our AWS environment. You will learn to monitor complex systems, resolve initial-tier technical issues, and support the senior engineers in maintaining a high-performance 5G ecosystem.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide L1/L2 support for AWS public cloud environments, assisting in the availability and reliability of production systems
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure using CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana, acknowledging alerts and escalating issues according to established runbooks
  • Assist in troubleshooting core AWS services including EC2, VPC, S3, and IAM to resolve connectivity or performance bottlenecks
  • Support Linux-based workloads by performing basic OS-level troubleshooting, log analysis, and system health checks
  • Gain hands-on experience with Kubernetes/EKS by assisting with pod monitoring, container log retrieval, and basic service health assessments
  • Participate in incident management by documenting technical symptoms and assisting senior engineers with Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Develop simple automation scripts using Bash or Python to streamline repetitive operational tasks and manual data collection
  • Help maintain security hygiene by assisting with OS patching, vulnerability remediation tasks, and IAM policy reviews
  • Document technical procedures, update internal runbooks, and create clear troubleshooting guides for the team
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to support GitLab pipelines and participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Recent graduates are welcome)
  • 0–2 years of experience in a technical support role, internship, or junior administration environment

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Foundational understanding of AWS core services such as EC2, S3, and VPC networking
  • Basic proficiency with Linux systems and the ability to navigate the command line (CLI)
  • General understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, DNS, and Security Groups
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly
  • High motivation to learn cloud-native technologies and automated operations in a fast-paced environment
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
  • Basic scripting experience with Python or Bash for automating simple tasks
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as GitLab or GitHub
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or microservices architecture through academic projects or personal labs
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Previous experience in an on-call or shift-based support environment

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $72,400.00/Year - $118,900.00/Year
