Your Role: Automation Engineer

As an Automation Engineer, you will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering team at Elanco Animal Health, supporting manufacturing process control systems to ensure reliable and compliant operations. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting automation systems, supporting small to medium projects, and contributing to continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day troubleshooting and technical support for manufacturing automation and control systems

  • Support design, implementation, and testing of automation solutions for small to medium projects

  • Execute and document changes within change control and assist with computer system validation activities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to resolve issues and drive improvements

  • Assist with automation project execution, including programming, testing, and documentation

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.g., Automation, Electrical, Chemical, or related field) or equivalent experience

  • Required Experience: Relevant experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment; level and scope of responsibilities will align with experience

  • Top 2 skills (all in one bullet): Basic automation/programming knowledge (PLCs, HMIs) and strong problem-solving/communication skills

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., GxP or biomanufacturing)

  • Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing setting

  • Knowledge of Lean or Continuous Improvement methodologies

  • Experience with Rockwell or Siemens PLCs and HMIs

  • Familiarity with tools such as ThinManager or AutoCAD for electrical/P&ID drawings

  • Location: Winslow, ME - Onsite (Manufacturing Facility; Monday-Friday dayshift with occasional off-hours support)
