What is an internship?

An internship is a temporary work experience offered by employers to students or recent graduates, allowing them to gain practical skills and exposure in a specific field or industry. Internships can be paid or unpaid and typically last from a few weeks to several months. Many internships can also lead to full-time job offers upon successful completion.

What types of projects or tasks are interns typically assigned during an internship at a company?

Interns are often given a mix of meaningful, real-world projects and daily tasks that support the team's objectives. These can include conducting research, assisting with ongoing projects, participating in meetings, and helping with data analysis or administrative work. Supervisors aim to balance learning opportunities with practical contributions, ensuring interns gain relevant experience while adding value to the organization. Collaboration with other interns and full-time staff is common, providing a supportive environment for skill development and networking.
