We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Asset Protection Specialist to support our retail operations through loss prevention initiatives, inventory management, CCTV monitoring, and investigative activities. This position is based out of our Northborough retail location and serves as a key partner in protecting company assets, reducing shrink, and supporting operational excellence across multiple store locations.


The Asset Protection Specialist is responsible for safeguarding company assets through proactive loss prevention efforts, inventory controls, surveillance monitoring, investigations, and operational audits. This role works closely with store management, field leadership, and the Director of Loss Prevention to identify risks, investigate incidents, and implement solutions that improve asset protection and inventory accuracy.


The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, technologically proficient, and capable of maintaining confidentiality while handling sensitive information.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Loss Prevention & Asset Protection
  • Monitor and investigate incidents involving theft, fraud, policy violations, workplace misconduct, and inventory discrepancies. 
  • Conduct internal and external theft investigations and assist with documentation and evidence collection. 
  • Review exception-based reporting, transaction data, refunds, voids, discounts, and other high-risk activities. 
  • Identify trends and opportunities to reduce shrink and operational losses. 
  • Assist with development and implementation of loss prevention programs and best practices. 
  • Partner with store management to address operational vulnerabilities and strengthen controls. 
  • Prepare investigative reports and maintain detailed case files. 
CCTV & Surveillance Monitoring
  • Monitor live and recorded CCTV footage across multiple retail locations. 
  • Review surveillance footage related to theft, safety incidents, cash handling concerns, policy violations, and inventory discrepancies. 
  • Preserve and organize video evidence as needed for investigations. 
  • Assist in maintaining CCTV systems and coordinating service requests with vendors and IT. 
  • Conduct routine surveillance audits to ensure camera coverage and functionality. 
Inventory Control & Auditing
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives across retail locations. 
  • Analyze inventory variances and investigate discrepancies. 
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation processes. 
  • Conduct operational audits related to inventory management, receiving, transfers, damages, and product handling. 
  • Identify procedural weaknesses impacting inventory integrity and recommend corrective actions. 
  • Track shrink performance and generate inventory-related reports. 
Operational Compliance & Store Support
  • Conduct periodic store visits to evaluate compliance with company policies and operational procedures. 
  • Verify adherence to cash handling, inventory control, and security protocols. 
  • Assist stores with implementing corrective action plans resulting from audits or investigations. 
  • Support emergency response and incident investigations as needed. 
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Operations, and Store Leadership on sensitive employee matters when appropriate. 
Reporting & Analytics
  • Generate and maintain reports related to shrink, investigations, inventory performance, and loss prevention metrics. 
  • Analyze trends and provide recommendations to reduce losses and improve operational effectiveness. 
  • Present findings and recommendations to management as requested.


Requirements

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • 2+ years of experience in loss prevention, asset protection, retail operations, inventory control, or a related field. 
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills. 
  • Experience reviewing CCTV footage and conducting investigations. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. 
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to retail locations as needed. 
Preferred
  • Experience with multi-unit retail operations. 
  • Experience conducting inventory audits and cycle counts. 
  • Knowledge of retail point-of-sale systems and exception reporting. 
  • Wicklander-Zulawski, LPC, LPQ, or other loss prevention certifications. 
  • Experience working with CCTV systems and surveillance software.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. 
  • Ability to review surveillance footage and reports for prolonged periods. 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. 
  • Ability to travel to retail locations throughout New England as needed. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct store inspections and audits.
