Job description

An leading FinTech company, is seeking as AS400 Programmer for a 12+ month contract to hire role.

This role will work with a team of programmers and analysts working with the Deposit Escrow and Sweeps systems. The primary focus will be new installations for financial institutions, but will include other tasks between installs, such as upgrades.
This position may be worked remotely anywhere in the US except California

The 30 working hours per week will flexibly overlap with M-F 8am-5pm EST. This is a part-time contract role with the potential of converting into a full-time associate role after 12 months based on performance. All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity.
What you"ll be responsible for:

Software installations on AS400 and Windows Servers.
. May assist with code review, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure code quality and resolve issues.

Learns assignments and designs/develops programming requirements and software specifications.
. May assist with programming and testing all or selected components of applications.


. Learns to analyze and resolve test result problems and debugs production issues.

May participate in creating programming documentation.
. Stays updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve skills and enhance software development processes.


. Adheres to organizational standards, policies, and procedures related to software development, security, and compliance.

Performs other duties as assigned.
What you"ll need to have:
. Two years specialized engineering training, such as an apprenticeship, internship, or learning co-op, and some experience.


. Familiar with AS400 commands
. Basic knowledge of RPG syntax and structure
What would be nice for you to have
.

Experience working with Windows Server-based web application environments.
. Familiarity with mainframe environments and the ability to read COBOL code.
. Programming/software engineering related certifications a plus and/or an active desire to pursue such certifications.
