Job Summary/Objective:

Interns will gain hands-on experience in the delivery of behavioral health and human services within a community-based setting. Interns will support programs that promote mental wellness, recovery, and access to care while learning how to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations. This position provides an opportunity to observe, assist, and engage in various aspects of mental health services, including client engagement, case management, community education, data tracking, and program support.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Assist in providing support services to individuals receiving behavioral health, substance use, or developmental services.
  • Participate in client outreach, assessments, and follow-up activities under supervision.
  • Observe and assist in clinical or administrative meetings to understand care coordination and treatment planning.
  • Help maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
  • Support community education, advocacy, and outreach initiatives.
  • Conduct research, collect data, or assist in program evaluation projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with staff to support special projects, events, and training activities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and respect for client privacy and cultural differences.

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college or university program in psychology, social work, counseling, public health, human services, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in community mental health and social impact work.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
