Role: Technical Writer (with Video Editor)
Location: NYC, NY/Pittsburgh PA (3 days a week Onsite
Job Type: Contract

Relevant Experience: 10+ Years

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain technical documents including user guides, system manuals, API documentation, SOPs, FAQs, knowledge base articles, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers, product managers, and SMEs to gather technical information.
  • Create standardized templates and maintain consistency across documents.
  • Edit and update documentation in line with product and process changes.
  • Ensure compliance with company style guides, branding, and regulatory standards.
  • Create and edit instructional videos, product demos, onboarding videos, and explainer videos.
  • Integrate voiceovers, captions, animations, screen recordings, and graphics to enhance video quality.
  • Manage the end-to-end video production process: planning, editing, revisions, and publishing.
  • Optimize videos for web, internal learning platforms, and client-facing portals.
  • Maintain video content libraries and ensure all media is appropriately archived.
  • Ability to create storyboards and script content when needed.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts, software development lifecycle, APIs, and product workflows.
  • Work closely with product, engineering, training, marketing, and communication teams.
  • Participate in sprint reviews, product demos, and other cross-functional meetings to gather content.

Required Skills:

  • Strong skills in technical writing tools (e.g., MS Word, Confluence, MadCap Flare, GitBook).
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Understanding of SEO best practices for documentation and videos.
