Job description

We're building the fastest-growing business media operation on YouTube. You'll work alongside the most talented editors, producers, and creative strategists in long-form video, the people who've scaled channels to 2M+, 10M, 100M subscribers, broken algorithmic records, and redefined what retention looks like in premium content. This is about craft. You understand the platform at the deepest level and are excited to be part of a creative team that's consistently breaking its own benchmarks.
The Opportunity
We have 2M+ YouTube subscribers, and we're growing faster than we ever have. Our in-house creative team has built something rare: a system that consistently produces scripts that hold attention, drive engagement, and move the needle on watch time and retention curves. You'll be embedded in that team, writing alongside editors who understand pacing & collaborating with producers who've mastered the algorithm. You'll be in a creative environment where every script is stress-tested, measured, and refined until it performs at the highest level.
What You'll Actually Do
You'll write scripts that the best creative team on YouTube turns into record-breaking content.
  • Craft hooks that convert. The first 30 seconds are everything. You'll write openings that make stopping impossible. Our creative team will film them with the precision of a feature filmmaker. Together, you'll iterate until the hook is perfect.
  • Engineer retention curves. You understand pacing, curiosity gaps, and payoff structure. You know why audiences stay or drop. You write with the retention graph in your head. Our editors will use that blueprint to create visual pacing that amplifies every beat.
  • Build narrative architecture. Long-form content (10-25 minutes) requires structure. You'll create the skeleton: act breaks, tension points, and resolution. Our production team will execute it with the craft of a scripted series.
  • Collaborate with the best. Every script you write goes into the hands of editors who've built channels from zero to millions. Producers who understand algorithmic incentives. Animators who can visualize complexity. You're not writing alone. You're writing into a machine built for excellence.
This month's collaboration looked like:
  • You pitched a concept. The founder green-lit it in 48 hours. You wrote the first draft. Editors tightened the structure. Producers tested three different hooks with the algorithm. The winning version went to camera and hit 1.8M views with a 48% average watch time.
  • A dense financial topic needed narrative weight. You restructured it as a story with rising tension and a payoff that shifted how viewers think about money. The creative team animated it beautifully. 900K views. 11K comments. Comment section is debating the framework.
  • You rewrote a script five times. Each rewrite got sharper. The creative team kept pushing-'Can we tighten the pacing here? Can we add more specificity?' By the final version, it was a masterpiece of long-form YouTube. 2.3M views.
  • You'll sit in creative meetings where every element: the script, the visuals, the pacing, the graphics, is stress-tested until it's airtight.
  • You'll get feedback that's direct and specific. You'll measure results in real time. You'll see what works and iterate. This is how you learn YouTube at the highest level.
What We Need at the Core:
  • Proven YouTube writing credentials. Long-form scripts (10+ minutes) with real performance data. Links required. We want to see where you've held attention at scale, driven engagement, and understood the retention curve.
  • Deep structural understanding of YouTube.
  • Exceptional storytelling instincts. You can take any topic and find the narrative thread.
  • Speed and openness to iteration. You move fast. You ship. You treat feedback as gold.
  • A distinct creative voice. You have a point of view. Your writing has personality. You're not generic.
Bonus:
  • You've written for a 500K+ subscriber channel.
  • You understand YouTube economics and how to structure content for algorithmic performance.
  • You've studied retention curves and made decisions based on that data.
  • You've worked with creative teams at scale-editors, producers, cinematographers.
  • You've built frameworks or concepts that became reference points in comments.
You'll measure success by:
  • Subscribers, watch time and retention curves.
  • Comment engagement and what people are debating.
  • How many viewers cite your frameworks.
  • How the creative team talks about your work: 'This script was a dream to edit.'
