Key job responsibilities
We're seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our Conversational Ad Experiences (CAX) team within Sponsored Products and Brands (SPB). SPB enables merchants, vendors, and brand owners to drive incremental sales through contextually relevant ads across Amazon properties (Amazon.com, Alexa, etc.) and third-party publishers.
The CAX team specializes in developing sponsored conversational experiences powered by large language models (LLMs). We're pioneering multiple industry-first initiatives that, while complex and ambiguous, offer opportunities to create significant impact for our consumers, advertisers, and the business.
As an engineer on our team, you will:
* Drive major product and engineering initiatives
* Build large-scale, low-latency distributed systems
* Develop ML infrastructure and LLM-based AI workflows
* Partner with our science team to implement LLM models in production
* Contribute to LLMOps
* Design, build, and operate customer-facing functionality impacting hundreds of millions of shoppers worldwide

The Sponsored Products and Brands team at Amazon Ads is re-imagining the advertising landscape through industry leading generative AI technologies, revolutionizing how millions of customers discover products and engage with brands across Amazon.com and beyond. We are at the forefront of re-inventing advertising experiences, bridging human creativity with artificial intelligence to transform every aspect of the advertising lifecycle from ad creation and optimization to performance analysis and customer insights. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: ML compilers, production coding agents, GenAI model architecture, model training, neural network optimization, or alternatively applied math.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
