Job description

Position Overview

Senior Electrical Engineer with a focus on embedded hardware and firmware design. Responsible for driving concepts from design through production, working in a fast‑paced environment that values rapid iteration, continuous improvement, and close coordination with vendors and manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities
  • Design, schematic capture, and prototype microcontroller and microprocessor‑based products.
  • Develop complex embedded systems involving mixed‑signal design, high‑speed interfaces, and integration across hardware and firmware domains.
  • Support firmware and/or FPGA designs.
  • Lead board bring‑up, debugging, and root‑cause analysis of hardware issues, independently driving issues to resolution.
  • Test and verify new designs.
  • Lead or support transition of designs into production.
  • Contribute to identification of emerging technologies and support technical direction within assigned projects.
  • Work with vendors and sourcing to define technical requirements for components and subsystems.
  • Design to and support qualification of products to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, FCC, and CE.
  • Create and execute test plans for hardware and software validation.
  • Design and implement test fixtures for production testing of circuit boards and system functionality.
  • Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and interns on design practices and debugging techniques.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, layout, and board bring‑up, with demonstrated progression in ownership and technical responsibility.
  • Strong experience in analog and digital circuit design, including DC/DC power supplies and common digital interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and USB.
  • Experience developing in C/C++ and/or VHDL or Verilog.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams including engineers, lab technicians, product management, and manufacturing.
  • Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with EE design tools such as Mentor Graphics.
  • Experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx, Microsemi, or Intel/Altera.
  • Experience with smart card, RFID, NFC, printing, or motion control systems.
  • Working knowledge of project management concepts (timelines, costs, requirements, resources).
  • 7+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, layout, and board bring‑up.
  • Demonstrated ownership of delivering high‑quality designs with a focus on reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Curiosity and initiative in evaluating new technologies, tools, and design approaches and applying them to improve development speed, product performance, or test efficiency.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced development environments with a rapid, iterative approach to design and debugging while maintaining engineering rigor.
  • Openness to adopting modern development tools, including AI‑assisted tools, to improve design efficiency, debugging, and documentation workflows.

Compensation

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is $96,797 - $141,969 per year (in the primary posting location). Actual compensation will be determined based on geographic location, education, skills, and experience. The position is also eligible for the company’s discretionary annual incentive plan.
