Job description

Title:ย Fiber Internet Field Service Technician

Location:ย New Castle, CO 81647

Schedule:ย primarilyย Monday โ€“ Friday, on call - occasional evenings/weekends required

Hour:ย 40 hours + OT guaranteed

Pay Rate:ย $20-ย $25/hr

Start Date:ย ASAP

Interview Process:ย 2 rounds, virtual


Day-to-Day:

Insight Globalโ€™s client is seeking a Service Technician in New Castle, CO for a 6-month contract, potential to extend. The Service Technician regularly performs service activation and installs of fiber network to include construction elements such as conduit, fiber, split enclosures, cabinets and utility locating.

Job Duties

  • Performing general installation of fiber network, including connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing and maintaining the fiber network.
  • Directly engaging with customers at install locations to ensure timely, efficient and optimal activation/connectivity.
  • Completing installs with knowledge of different installation tactics, including optimal utility placements related to wall fishing.
  • Ability to perform fiber drops on site from handhole to house with supervision.
  • Understand the mainline and drop-blowing process and assist teams with supervision.
  • Understand basic concepts of the data center and its components.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting to identify connectivity issues from home to handhole.
  • Build a splice dome and express dome installation with supervision.
  • Understand conduit continuity and light level testing to perform installs, with the ability to identify connectivity issues.
  • Complete general repair of the network including troubleshooting at the NID/home/handhold.
  • Basic understanding of Utility locates.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Must Haves:

  • 1+ years experience in a trade-adjacent position and comfortable with power tools
  • Active valid drivers license and clean drivers record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Excellent communication and professionalism
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds and comfortable performing aerial work on a ladder or bucket truck as needed

Plusses:

โ€ข Prior experience in telecommunications and fiber optics

โ€ข Basic understanding of fiber optic systems, networking, and low-voltage wiring

  • Proficient with all platforms and applications (ServiceMax, Bob, Deputy, etc)
  • Compliance with all safety related training/practices, including but not limited to ladder safety, weather, safe driving principles, etc.
