About the opportunity

The Service Technician regularly performs service activation and installs of the Ting fiber network to include construction elements such as conduit, fiber, split enclosures, cabinets and utility locating. Service Techs are at the forefront of Ting's connection with the community and perform their responsibilities with safety and customer experience top of mind. This role is based out of Culver City, CA.

Shift schedule: Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. This is a 6 month contract to start.

Job Duties
  • Performing general installation of fiber network, including connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing and maintaining the fiber network.
  • Directly engaging with customers at install locations to ensure timely, efficient and optimal activation/connectivity.
  • Completing installs with knowledge of different installation tactics, including optimal utility placements related to wall fishing.
  • Ability to perform fiber drops on site from handhole to house with supervision.
  • Understand the mainline and drop-blowing process and assist teams with supervision.
  • Understand basic concepts of the data center and its components.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting to identify connectivity issues from home to handhole.
  • Build a splice dome and express dome installation with supervision.
  • Understand conduit continuity and light level testing to perform installs, with the ability to identify connectivity issues.
  • Complete general repair of the network including troubleshooting at the NID/home/handhold.
  • Basic understanding of Utility locates.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to do aerial work on a ladder or bucket truck up to 35' .
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds while practicing safe lifting techniques
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, with provided weather protection materials.
  • Proficient with all platforms and applications (ServiceMax, Bob, Deputy, etc)
  • Compliance with all safety related training/practises, including but not limited to ladder safety, weather, safe driving principles, etc.
Qualifications Required
  • 0-2 years of experience, preferably in telecommunications industry
  • Active valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract

The hourly pay for this position is based on an annualized range of $45,000 to $50,000 USD for US residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications.
