Job Summary:

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Strategic Purchasing Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business. Your responsibilities will include market research for potential suppliers, conducting and analyzing RFPs, processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking purchase orders, managing supplier relationships and performance, creating and maintaining inventory, quality assurance, and liaising with inventory teams and management. The Purchasing Buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.


The Purchasing Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget.


Responsibilities:

Support and communicate with sales/engineering to gather current requirements and specifications to be used within an RFI, RFQ, or RFP.
Monitor and analyze inventory forecasts and usage, applying thorough knowledge of the companys products and business objectives for sound procurement decisions.
Undertake supplier management to obtain the best suppliers and ensure an optimum supply chain.
Support the development and administration of the Strategic Sourcing Plan.
Prepare and manage Requests for Quotation (RFQ), expedite and obtain quotations from third-party suppliers, and comply with RFQ processes.
Prepare bid analysis and recommend suppliers based on technical/commercial bids and strategic decisions.
Develop pricing sheets for the sales team.
Spearhead numerous process enhancements through ERP system automation.
Expedite and administer complex international arrangements for the logistics department.
Purchase inventory items from domestic and international suppliers to maintain sufficient inventory levels and maintain inventory control processes.
Keep track of shipment dates with suppliers to ensure estimated ship dates are accurately reflected in the system.


Qualifications/Desired Skills:

Business or Technical Bachelors Degree required
A minimum of 35 years of purchasing experience in a business environment
Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and provide exceptional customer service
Strong organization and time management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong negotiation skills
Proficient with MS Office and working knowledge of ERP systems
