Project Overview:

As part of the Salt River Pumped Storage Project (SRPSP), SRP is exploring opportunities to expand pumped storage hydropower on the existing Salt River reservoir system. The project is planned to create a 2000 MW pump storage hydropower project with 20 GWh of energy storage, provided through eight reversible pump turbine generating units. The generating units will be in a shaft (pit) style powerhouse complex that is near the lower reservoir. The upper reservoir will be a new 15,000-acre-foot reservoir created on the upper plateau. The reservoirs and powerhouse will be connected by two tunnel systems. Bechtel is providing engineering, procurement and construction services which will include, but is not limited to, design, constructability reviews, estimates, schedule development and value engineering

Job Summary:

This Project Risk Manager role is a senior role responsible for managing the project risk management program on this exciting project. Responsible for guidance, support, and SME technical expertise in project risk management (PRM) for the project across an audience of internal and external stakeholders. Managing and maintaining trust of project leadership, the role requires an influential, confident people person with the ability to drive focus on PRM, lead through encouragement and connect PRM with key interfaces across the project scope.

Reporting to: Project Controls Manager   #LI-ML1 

Major Responsibilities:
  • Implement an effective and integrated system of risk management strategy: plan, processes, procedures, work instructions, etc. in line with international best practices and standards.
  • Maintain Risk and Opportunities statistics, monitor and report on Risk Management system effectiveness at both Project and Program level.
  • Support and monitor the implementation of the Risk function across Projects.
  • Facilitate and support risk and opportunity workshops across the projects
  • Facilitate risk workshops and advise on schedule/cost risk analysis.
  • Consolidate risks from Project level to Program level for overall review & reporting.
  • Report Risk Metrics and graphical displays including dashboards to Project Management.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision to meet multiple deadlines

The role requires a strategic quick thinker with abilities to deliver messaging across all layers of the project team.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Master's degree in engineering, Construction or Management (preferred) bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction or Management (minimum)
  • Experience in Qualitative Risk and ability to perform Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA)
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops, risk reviews/ sessions.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in engineering and construction with minimum 5 years direct responsibility for management. 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills with multiple levels of Management
  • Experience and knowledge of all discipline's risks during all Project stages from feasibility till handover e.g. procurement/contractual, QHSE, reputational Risks, etc.
  • Previous experience with softwares for risk management/analysis programs such as SAFRAN, ARM and @ Risk software
