Internal Job Description

About the role: Turbine Rigger, Seneca, South Carolina, contract role.

The Turbine Rigger is responsible for sizing up loads, assembling of rigging to fit, and moving equipment or materials around site during maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Set up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.

2. Give direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials handled using hand signals, loudspeaker, two-way radio, or telephone.

3. Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.

4. Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.

5. Load, transport, unload, and assist in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.

6. Use and properly operate basic rigging equipment/tooling (i.e. slings, chokers, cables, come-a-longs, chain falls, shackles, eye bolts, beam clamps).

7. Participate in pre-job briefings.

8. Perform daily per-use inspection of equipment being used.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Preferred to have at least three (3) years of experience in Nuclear, Fossil, or both. Must be a qualified rigger and signal man in accordance with applicable plant procedures. Must have NCCCO or EPRI: Fossil certification and NCCER Certification: Nuclear or equivalent qualification. Must pass initial and annual Radiation Worker Training and meet all applicable requirements to obtain and maintain nuclear unescorted access. Proven ability to demonstrate a high level of ethical behavior, integrity and trust.
