Job description

The Center for Humanitarian Health at The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health is seeking a Program Officer. The Program Officer will support the coordination and implementation of its research and humanitarian programs. Reporting to CHH leadership, the incumbent will help advance field-based and operational work, maintain partnerships with a broad range of international stakeholders, and ensure CHH administrative and financial aspects move forward effectively across the Centre's portfolio.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the progress of CHH research and humanitarian projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners, including NGOs, UN agencies, academic institutions, and government bodies.
  • Support the development and implementation of field-based research and humanitarian health projects, providing programmatic and technical input as needed.
  • Strengthen internal CHH procedures and processes to improve program management and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify potential donors and funding opportunities, and contribute to the development of concept notes, proposals, research protocols, and ethics applications.
  • Conduct evidence reviews and contribute to strategic discussions on CHH's research, programmatic, fundraising, and operational priorities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a related field
  • Three years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant programmatic and/or research experience in humanitarian health or related areas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English; proficiency in another language is preferred, particularly Spanish, French, or Arabic.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and deliver high quality results.
  • Experience working in humanitarian or fragile settings.
  • Experience with research in humanitarian emergencies.
