What you'll do:
Position Overview:
Eaton's Energy Transition Team is currently seeking an Mechanical Engineering Intern / Co-op.
This position can either be a rotational co-op assignment, or a Summer 2027 internship.
The hourly rate for this position is $22.15 - $27.69 per hour.

The Mechanical Engineering Intern / Co-op is responsible for supporting the creative design and development of connected home energy management systems, intelligent vehicle-to-home/grid (V2X) power management products, plus other electric power grid system solutions.
This position will contribute to the overall Mechanical design of a product with involvement from project initiation through manufacturing launch, plus continuous improvement efforts. The Mechanical Engineering Intern / Co-op will contribute to the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components and work closely with the Engineering Manager, Program Manager, other Mechanical Engineers, System Architects, Firmware Engineers, and Electrical Engineers to develop products in an organized and expedient fashion per our Pro-Launch process.
What you'll do:
• Perform mechanical engineering design and analysis using CAD solid modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), and kinematic simulations.
• Analyze and then resolve complex mechanical issues using unique, creative designs
• Design parts, mechanisms, and assemblies utilizing injection molded plastic, machined metal, and formed metal parts. Package electronic circuit boards and other electrical components into the final product.
• Participate in new product development/introduction, innovation, idea creation and implementation, prototype assembly and testing, and design-to-industrialization activities
• Support enhancements of existing products based on evaluations of existing and new technologies per Eaton's strategic plans.
• Contribute to international project teams assigned to research, design, develop, test and/or launch new innovations.
Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
• Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or similar from an accredited institution with graduation no later than August 2029
• Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Relocation is not provided for this role, the candidate must be located within 50 miles of Moon Township, PA
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience creating 3D CAD Models and conducting FEA studies using SolidWorks or similar tool
• Experience using 3D printers
