They coordinate between departments, manage resources, set timelines, and ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Their role often involves communicating with stakeholders, identifying potential risks, and ensuring that project goals align with the company's objectives. Internal Project Managers play a key role in driving organizational efficiency and achieving strategic initiatives.

Job description

Senior Project Manager – Permitting

Mid-Atlantic Region (MD or VA) | REMOTE | Full-Time

*NOTE: Desired applicant must reside in the state of Maryland or Virginia*

About Us

At Milrose Consultants Company, LLC, we build more than buildings—we build trust, expertise, and lasting partnerships. As leaders in nationwide permitting and construction compliance, we’re proud to help shape the skylines of tomorrow through excellence in planning, approvals, and project execution.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager - Permitting to join our Project Delivery team. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a team of project managers and drive successful execution of high-profile and complex permitting projects in the DC, MD, and VA region. You’ll work closely with clients, municipal agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless, on-time project delivery while advancing best-in-class service standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the full lifecycle of permit-related projects—from initial filing to certificate of occupancy or completion.
  • Serve as the primary communication hub for all assigned projects:
    • Providing proactive status updates to the Manager, internal Project Management team, and clients on a daily and weekly cadence
    • Escalating issues before they become delays
    • Ensuring no stakeholder is left waiting for critical information
    • Serve as a direct point of contact for clients, bringing professionalism, responsiveness, care, and strong interpersonal communication skills to every interaction; maintain and strengthen client relationships through consistent communication, reliable follow-through, and a service-first, solutions-oriented mindset.
    • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting client demands within a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
    • Maintain detailed project records and provide regular, structured status updates to clients and internal management teams.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients, plans examiners, and internal teams.
  • Oversee deliverables including entitlements, timelines, and risk tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and project quality standards.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and milestone updates for leadership and clients.
  • Contribute to productivity goals and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Serve as a mentor for other project team members

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Strong, proactive communication skills - both written and verbal - with a demonstrated ability to keep clients and stakeholders informed before they ask for updates, set clear expectations, and communicate delays or issues before they escalate
  • Strong initiative and a genuine desire to learn: this role requires someone who takes ownership, digs in independently, and actively builds expertise in an evolving field
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across internal departments
  • Proven experience collaborating with internal and external project teams, with the ability to motivate, delegate, and drive accountability across multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work on complex projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • 5+ years of experience in permitting and / or entitlements in the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Must reside in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of permitting workflows, municipal codes, and development processes.
  • Experience with multi-state or national rollouts in retail, hospitality, or commercial sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • This position is remote with a focus on the Mid-Atlantic Region (DC, VA, MD).
  • Standard working hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30:00am – 5:00pm, minimum 40 hours/week.
  • Travel requirements: Must be willing to travel to building departments in this region for in-person submissions or meetings, when required. (Travel Reimbursement will be provided)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $90,000 – $100,000 annually, based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, plus 401K plan with a match.
  • Paid time off: holidays, vacation, sick, personal, and birthday.
  • Cell phone stipend and commuter benefits.
  • Career development and advancement opportunities.
