Introduction

RETTEW is seeking a Survey Project Manager to lead surveying projects across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and surrounding regions. This role blends technical expertise, project leadership, and client coordination to ensure high-quality survey deliverables that support land development, transportation, and infrastructure projects.

Work Environment

Hybrid

Primary office locations: Lancaster, Lehigh Valley, Berwyn, Mechanicsburg, State College, Williamsport, or Pittsburgh, PA; Akron or St. Clairsville, OH; or Morgantown, WV, with coordination across regional offices and field teams.

This position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires successful completion of all pre-employment screenings as a condition of employment. Position Summary / What You'll Do

The Survey Project Manager is responsible for managing survey projects from kickoff through delivery, overseeing technical quality, schedules, budgets, and client expectations. This role plays a key part in mentoring survey staff, coordinating with internal project teams, and supporting RETTEW's continued growth in the Mid-Atlantic region.


Responsibilities / Day-to-Day

Manage land surveying projects, including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction surveys.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and responsiveness throughout the project lifecycle.

Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project and business objectives.

Review and seal survey plans, plats, and related deliverables in accordance with Maryland regulations and professional standards.

Coordinate with field crews, CAD staff, and other disciplines to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.

Mentor and support survey staff by providing technical guidance and professional development.

Assist with proposals, scope development, and project planning as needed.


Qualifications

Required

Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the State of Maryland.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive surveying experience, including project management responsibility.

Strong knowledge of Maryland survey regulations, standards, and permitting requirements.

Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines.

Proficiency with standard survey software, equipment, and CAD platforms.

Valid driver's license and ability to perform occasional field work.

Preferred

Active Professional Land Surveyor license in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey.

Experience supporting land development, transportation, or infrastructure projects.

Prior experience mentoring survey staff or leading project teams.

Familiarity with a multidisciplinary consulting environment.
