Graduate Assistant - Athletics Internal Operations
Department: Division of Athletics
Reports To: Associate Director of Athletics
Appointment: Two-Year Graduate Assistant Position
Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant for Athletics Internal Operations is a key member of the Nichols College Athletics administrative team, assisting in the daily operations of a 24-sport NCAA Division III athletics department. Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics, this position has primary responsibility for game operations, all home Men's and Women's Rugby contests, and operational support for the Sports Medicine Department.
The Graduate Assistant will work collaboratively with coaches, certified athletic trainers, and athletics staff to ensure athletic contests, practices, and special events are conducted in a professional, organized, and student-centered manner. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in collegiate athletics administration, event management, sports medicine operations, and NCAA Division III game management.
Essential Responsibilities
Game Operations
  • Support contest manager for assigned home athletic contests.
  • Assist with game day setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Manage officials' and visiting team hospitality.
  • Oversee parking and event logistics.
  • Provide laundering services and uniform distribution before and after contests, as assigned.
  • Serve as the primary operations contact for Men's and Women's Rugby.
  • Provide athletic communication with photos and recaps for Rugby contests.
  • Assist head coach with all home rugby contest operations.
  • Assist with Rugby press box/scoreboard operations.
  • Assist with Rugby travel reconciliation for budget - collect receipts after away contests.
  • Assist with Conference of New England, Rugby Championship, NCAA Championship hosting.

Sports Medicine Operations
  • Assist with operational support for the Sports Medicine staff.
  • Assist with preparing hydration stations for practices and contests.
  • Transport athletic training equipment to practice and competition venues.
  • Assist with field setup and/or postgame breakdown.
  • Assist with maintaining athletic training inventory and organization.
  • Coordinate game-day logistics between Sports Medicine and Game Operations.
  • Assist certified athletic trainers with operational support before, during, and after practices and contests.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assist with admissions programs, fundraising events, championships, and departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain event documentation, inventory records, and operational calendars.
  • Daily trips to the mailroom for deliveries and retrieving mail.
  • Assist with the pickup and delivery of athletic equipment, uniforms, and other departmental purchases as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
