Description:
I. JOB SUMMARY
The Textile Worker - Operations is responsible for processing/preparing clean linen for patient/clinician use in the hospital and for contract accounts, while maintaining the highest possible quality, production, sanitation, and safety standards in Textile Service operations.
II. ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY
A. Reports to: Textile Operations Coordinator
B. Supervises: None
C. Key Working Relationships: Department Leadership, Textile Service Engineer, Textile Lead Workers, Textile Inventory & Customer Specialist, and Textile Services Associates
D. Primary Customer Groups: Internal/External Textile Services customers and contract accounts

Pediatric Adult All Ages
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Utilizes equipment to maximize productivity, while following proper operating instructions. Identifies, sorts, and folds (by hand) clean linen items according to classifications. Maintains an even flow of clean linen items to distribution systems. Maintains accurate records related to production/productivity data. Reports needed repairs to the Textile Service Engineer. Performs routine cleaning of laundry equipment and keeps work area clean/organized. Effectively and safely operates the flatwork ironer, sheet folder, and small piece folders. Demonstrates teamwork/cooperation in providing daily textile services to direct/indirect customers. Keeps the coordinator, supervisor, or lead worker informed of pertinent information related to job duties and the completion of scheduled/assigned work. Meets productivity/work standards while demonstrating competency in job skills and knowledge. Actively identifies and provides input to improving operations and solving problems, while respecting co-workers. Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies/procedures, while proactively identifying/addressing safety concerns surrounding the work environment. Acts in a professional manner reflecting the mission, philosophy, and values of Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa and the Sisters of Mercy. Communicates with and performs duties following Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa Guiding Behaviors. Performs other responsibilities as requested by Textile Operations Coordinator.
IV. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with task related to general cleaning/facility activities. Sort stain/rewash loads to determine if linen is visibly stain-free. Fills in sorter position in washroom, sorting soiled linen according to classification as needed.
V. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education
1. High school diploma or certificate is strongly preferred.
B. Experience
1. None.
C. Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes
1. Understand the importance of personal productivity to meet work standards.
2. Must be dependable, reliable, and be able to work flexible hours.
3. Must be able to plan and organize work duties and be alert to safety hazards.
4. Must be able to work with a team to accomplish goals.
Must have an ability to handle working with grossly soiled linen, such as body fluid and unfavorable odors related to soiled linen items when filling in for the Textile Sorter.

Completes Mandatory Reporting: Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes MANDT Training within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Completes Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
Schedule:
5:30m-3pm range M-F, with a few Saturdays each year
