Job Summary

Summary:

Control Solutions Group, Inc. (an EMCOR Company) is searching for an experienced BAS Controls Estimator to join our growing Salt Lake City team! This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a market leader that delivers actionable insights through data-driven analytics and best-in-class Building Automation technology

As a BAS Controls Estimator, you will play a critical role in our pre-construction phase. You will be responsible for transforming complex mechanical plans into comprehensive, competitive, and accurate cost estimates. This role requires a balance of technical HVAC/BMS knowledge and the ability to build strong relationships with our internal Business Development team, mechanical contractors, and end-user customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bid Development: Collaborate with Business Development Managers (BDMs) to review MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings and specifications to determine the precise BAS scope of work.
  • Cost Estimation: Utilize BidTracer and CSG estimating tools to prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including equipment counts, electrical installation, wiring, panel fabrication, and itemized labor/materials.
  • Vendor Management: Solicit and analyze pricing from subcontractors and vendors. Ensure proper coverage and competitive pricing from electrical and mechanical partners on bid day.
  • External Communication: Maintain professional and proactive communication with mechanical contractors and building owners to ensure our proposals are received, understood, and aligned with their needs.
  • Proposal Creation: Support the sales team in creating high-quality technical proposals for sealed bid packages.
  • Technical Standards: Work closely with the Engineering team to apply CSG standards to HVAC equipment applications, ensuring all estimates reflect functional and efficient control strategies.
  • Compliance: Ensure all bids reflect correct tax status (e.g., Tax Exempt projects) and verify that subcontractor pricing aligns exactly with the required scope of work.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of estimating experience specifically within the Building Management (BMS) or Temperature Controls industry.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of BidTracer.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and the MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and Visio/AutoCAD is a significant plus.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of conceptual estimating and the ability to "read between the lines" of incomplete drawing sets.
  • Exceptional communication skills; able to speak the language of mechanical contractors and engineers.
  • Ability to manage multiple bid deadlines simultaneously with high attention to detail.
  • Confidentiality: Proven ability to handle sensitive project and financial information with total confidentiality.

Compensation Range: 85k to 110k depending on experience plus Sales Incentive Program
