Internal Communications Manager & PIO


The Internal Communications Manager & Public Information Officer leads executive, internal, and crisis communications for the institution. This position partners with executive leadership and departments across campus to develop clear, accurate, and timely communications that support institutional priorities, organizational alignment, employee and student engagement, and informed decision-making.


Strategic and Executive Communications:

Partner with executive leadership to develop communication strategies and messaging that support institutional priorities, initiatives, and decisions. Research, draft, and coordinate executive communications, presentations, announcements, and related materials. Ensure communications are accurate, mission-aligned, appropriately confidential, and consistent with institutional standards.

Internal and Organizational Communications:

Develop and coordinate internal communications that support institutional priorities, initiatives, policies, events, and operational updates. Advise departments on communication planning, message clarity, timing, delivery, and best practices while maintaining communication standards and coordination processes.

Public Information and Crisis Communications:

Serve as the institution's Public Information Officer and lead official internal and external communications involving emergencies, critical incidents, reputational risks, public perception concerns, and sensitive institutional matters. Coordinate with leadership and key stakeholders to gather information, develop communication materials, manage media relations, and support approved crisis response efforts. Maintain crisis communication plans, procedures, escalation protocols, and readiness resources to support timely, accurate, and effective communication during significant events.

Content Coordination, Communication Operations, and Continuous Improvement:

Coordinate communication projects, content development, approvals, and production activities that support institutional communication objectives. Manage communication calendars, workflows, records, and related operational processes to ensure effective execution across departments. Evaluate communication effectiveness and stakeholder feedback to recommend improvements to messaging, delivery methods, communication processes, and institutional communication systems.

5+ years in communications
