As part of Carollo’s Communications Team, the Internal Communications Specialist will provide dedicated, hands-on communications support for internal campaigns and initiatives, such as employee announcements, HR campaigns, benefits communications, program rollouts, onboarding materials, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Internal Communications Specialist will serve as the day-to-day communications resource for internal communication initiatives. This is a steady, high-volume area of work, and this dedicated role will allow us to deliver clear, timely, and consistent messaging to our nearly 2,000 employees.

The Internal Communications Specialist will work as part of a collaborative team, partnering closely with Communications and colleagues around the company to understand needs, shape content, and bring ideas to life through clear, well-crafted writing.

We're looking for someone who is reliable, organized, and energized by producing meaningful work for employees. If you enjoy writing for internal audiences, working across teams, and supporting the kind of communications that shape how people experience their workplace, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Draft, edit, and produce employee-facing communications, including announcements, policy updates, benefits information, onboarding and orientation materials, and recognition program content
  • Support internal campaigns and initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys, open enrollment, wellness programs, and learning and development programs
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to understand internal communications needs, gather information, and manage review cycles to ensure accurate, timely delivery
  • Maintain editorial calendars for recurring communications
  • Develop and maintain templates and standard formats for routine and recurring content to improve consistency and turnaround time
  • Coordinate with the broader Communications team to ensure messaging aligns with the firm's overall internal communications strategy, voice, and brand
  • Help maintain and update employee-facing content on the intranet and other internal channels as it relates to programs
  • Support change management communications for company initiatives, including policy changes, benefits updates, and program rollouts
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of employee communications through engagement metrics and feedback

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Organizational Communication, or a related field
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in internal communications, employee communications, or a closely related role
  • Demonstrated experience producing employee-facing content
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to take complex or sensitive information and turn it into clear, accessible content
  • Solid understanding of internal communications principles and audience-focused messaging
  • Ability to work across functions, manage multiple inputs, and maintain timely delivery on recurring deadlines
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance ongoing work with new requests
  • Sound judgment associated with handling sensitive or confidential information with discretion
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, service-oriented mindset
  • Comfort working within an established communications strategy while also contributing ideas to improve content and delivery
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and willingness to learn new tools
  • Comfort with content management systems, intranet platforms, and email communication tools

  • Experience writing for HR, People, or employee-facing audiences
  • Experience supporting employee engagement, recognition, or change management initiatives
  • Familiarity with intranet platforms, email marketing tools, and employee survey tools
  • Experience in the water, environmental, or engineering sector
  • Experience supporting an HR or People Team function in a corporate or professional services environment
  • Background in engineering, consulting, or professional services
  • Basic design skills

An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
