Job description

Eaton's Global Communications function is looking for a dynamic Director of Communication - Data Centers. The preferred location will be Beachwood, Ohio at Eaton's US HQ. What you'll do: Eaton is seeking an experienced communications professional to support our fast growing and critical global Data Centers segment and the Boyd thermal organization.

Reporting dually to the Vice President, Global Communications and the President of the Data Center Segment, the Director of Communications- Data Centers will help to educate, elevate and amplify Eaton's data center growth opportunity through creative, compelling and impactful communications content. In addition to supporting Eaton's Data Center business, this role will provide communications strategy and support for the Boyd Thermal organization, helping drive alignment, engagement and understanding during a period of significant growth, integration and transformation. This leadership role will be responsible for the development and delivery of timely, impactful and engaging communications, the role will focus on internal employee education, supporting as Eaton accelerates its presence and impact for data center customers and other key stakeholders.

Pivotal to the success of this role will be the ability to communicate cross functionally and at all levels, with a deep understanding of how to effectively cascade messaging and encourage action within a global, matrixed organization. Additional key areas of responsibility will include serving as a senior communications business partner to leaders across the Global Data Center and Boyd Thermal organizations, supporting strategic priorities, talent initiatives and operational programs across all critical communication areas including executive, function, culture, change and engagement communications. Cross-functional collaboration (Marketing, External Communications, HR, Public Affairs, etc.,) and within the Data Centers and Boyd Thermal organizations is critical as we enable integrated, aligned and impactful communication campaigns across all stakeholders in this fast-growing market

The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling and the creation of high-quality communications content across a mix of channels. Experience in external communications will be an advantage as we accelerate our efforts to deliver differentiated and effective communications at scale. The successful person will be a self-starter who learns quickly, collaborates effectively and enjoys working in a fast-paced, global environment.

The role will contribute to, align and leverage enterprise messaging while translating our data center and Boyd Thermal strategic priorities into clear, compelling stories that generate excitement, increase understanding and fuel our growth strategy. Key Responsibilities: Working alongside Marketing, External Communications, Public Affairs and HR, this role will develop and execute strategic and integrated communications plans that accelerate our growth, educate and energize stakeholders around data centers and Boyd Thermal, while ensuring alignment with business objectives, internal employee needs and stakeholder priorities. Partner closely with HR, Marketing, Enterprise Communications, Public Affairs and business leadership teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment across Data Centers and Boyd Thermal.

Serve as the primary communications liaison for our Data Center and Boyd Thermal organizations, Communications team and executive stakeholders, building trusted relationships and ensuring transparency and clarity. Lead detailed planning and execution of internal communication campaigns, including communications strategy, tactics, omni channel content, executive briefings, presentation materials, event coordination and support, etc. Develop and deliver engaging internal employee communications that foster understanding, alignment and connection to business objectives across global teams, including organizational announcements, leadership messaging, employee engagement initiatives, talent programs and culture-building efforts.

Working within a cross-functional team, support external communications campaign tactics and execution including but not limited to supporting media efforts, event support, stakeholder presentations and omni channel content management. Create executive communication materials including leadership messages, town hall content, presentations, talking points, organizational updates and employee-facing communications. Support change management initiatives by developing targeted messaging and engagement plans for impacted teams and stakeholders.

Partner with the Boyd Thermal integration team, and the communications integration leader, supporting communications planning and execution for Boyd Thermal integration, organizational changes, business transformations and growth initiatives, ensuring employees remain informed and engaged throughout periods of change. Drive innovation in communication practices by leveraging digital tools, data visualization, and storytelling techniques to enhance understanding and engagement. Have thorough understanding of ROI metrics and outcomes to monitor and measure internal communications effectiveness, adjusting strategies as needed to improve outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction.

Translate complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging content for diverse audiences. Foster a culture of transparency, excitement, and collaboration around data center and Boyd Thermal innovations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is required.

Minimum of 12 years of experience in strategic communications, preferably having spent time in either the data center market, or similar environment. Proven experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder projects, ideally in the data center, energy, or technology sectors. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.

Proven experience in supporting senior leaders and critical roles on the value of thoughtful, strategic communications strategy. Ability to manage multiple global projects across different regions and time zones. Experience with stakeholder engagement, internal employee communications, business communications, change management and executive communications.

Proficiency across major communication platforms, project management tools and digital content creation. Adoption and experience of using AI to accelerate efficiency and impact across the communications discipline. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities, with critical thinking, problem solving and project management abilities Collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership and communication.

Preferable, advanced qualification in communications or project management and experience in external communications. Understanding of data center systems and terminology (e.g., LV/MV electrical systems, UPS, energy storage). Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational dynamics

Proven ability to translate business strategies into compelling storytelling that drives engagement and action. Experience supporting organizational integration, change management, mergers and acquisitions, or business transformation initiatives. All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
