Job description

Utility Construction Intern

MTech Construction is currently seeking interns to join our utility constriction team for the summer. This paid internship position offers an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry, specifically in the installation of fiber optics. Interns will work closely with our utility construction professionals to support various aspects of fiber installation projects.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Some of your duties may include:

  • Assist in installing, maintaining and repairing underground fiber optic networks
  • Operate and maintain construction equipment and hand tools
  • Help prepare and clean up construction sites
  • Assist in inspecting and testing installed fiber to ensure efficient project execution
  • Work effectively with managers, co-workers, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals
  • Learn and develop skills in utility construction


You'll also need to be able to:

  • Continuously communicate with co-workers and customers
  • Frequently lift and operate heavy tools and equipment, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Continuously see, hear, and listen


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Currently pursuing a high school diploma or technical degree in utility construction or related field
  • Basic experience with equipment and hand tools desired
