Job description

Position: AFSIM Modeling and Simulation Engineer
Position Type: Remote Eligible - All Locations
Clearance Required:TS/SCI
Waypoint's client is seeking an AFSIM Modeling and Simulation Engineer to support an experimental defense program with rapidly evolving requirements. This role involves developing and running cutting-edge simulations across multiple domains-from seafloor to space-to enable advanced wargaming, mission analysis, and future capability development. The position offers a dynamic environment where engineers can explore new concepts, validate system performance, and directly shape operational outcomes.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, script, and validate models and behaviors within AFSIM.
  • Build and refine models of sensors, weapons, communications, space, and mission-critical systems.
  • Run and analyze campaign-level and theater-level simulations to inform CONOPS, tactics, and system trade studies.
  • Support distributed simulation environments, integrating large-scale scenarios across domains.
  • Collaborate with mission analysts, operators, and engineers to ensure alignment with operational requirements.
  • Translate operational concepts into executable simulation scenarios.
  • Document findings and recommendations in actionable technical reports.
Required:
  • Direct, hands-on experience with AFSIM (scripting, modeling, behavior development).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and validate models of sensors, weapons, communications, and space systems.
  • Solid understanding of CONOPS, mission analysis, and tactics development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • 7-10 years of Experience with a Masters and 8-12 with a Bachelor's.
Desired:
  • Proficiency in C++ for simulation development.
  • Experience supporting operational efforts through M&S development.
  • Familiarity with distributed simulation environments.
  • Experience running and analyzing campaign/theater-level simulations.
  • Mission-driven with a passion for solving complex challenges.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A builder and innovator who wants to drive real-world impact for the warfighter.
