What does an Intern Video Engineer do?

An Intern Video Engineer assists with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of video production and broadcasting equipment. They often support senior engineers in tasks such as video signal testing, equipment calibration, and live event streaming. The role provides hands-on experience with the latest video technologies and software, helping interns learn industry standards and workflows. Interns may also be involved in editing video content and ensuring quality control throughout the production process.

What is the difference between Intern Video Engineer vs Video Technician?

What types of projects and responsibilities can an Intern Video Engineer expect during their internship?

As an Intern Video Engineer, you can expect to work on a variety of hands-on projects, such as assisting with video encoding, troubleshooting streaming issues, and supporting the setup of video production equipment. You'll likely collaborate closely with senior engineers and production teams to ensure high-quality video delivery and may help with testing new technologies or optimizing workflows. This role offers valuable exposure to industry-standard tools and provides opportunities to learn about both the technical and creative aspects of video engineering within a supportive team environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern Video Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Video Engineer, you should have foundational knowledge in video production, signal flow, and computer science, often supported by coursework in media technology or engineering. Familiarity with video editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro), streaming platforms, and basic video compression tools is typically required. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective teamwork are crucial soft skills in this role. These skills ensure the smooth operation of video workflows, high-quality output, and efficient collaboration within production teams.

Full-time, Internship

Job description

Exowatt is revolutionizing the energy landscape for the AI era with our groundbreaking P3 system that captures solar energy, stores it as heat, and generates electricity on demand. Founded in 2023 and backed by leading investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sam Altman, and Felicis, we're committed to providing clean, modular, and scalable power that meets the rapidly growing demands of AI infrastructure. Our mission is to make sustainable renewable energy always available and almost free, enabling technological advancement while protecting our planet.
As our AI Marketing Intern, you'll work directly alongside our Marketing and Software teams to bring our story to life across video, graphics, and social, with a heavy emphasis on AI-assisted production.
This is a hands-on role for someone who's genuinely excited about where AI tooling is taking creative work, and who wants real ownership rather than busywork. You won't be fetching coffee; you'll be shipping assets people actually see.
This role is in-person at our Miami office; open to remote for the right candidate.
What you'll do
AI-generated content creation
  • Produce social media assets, short-form videos, and graphics using AI tools (image, video, and design generators) plus traditional editing software.
  • Develop and iterate on prompts to get on-brand, high-quality output - and know when to refine by hand.
  • Adapt content across formats and channels (LinkedIn, X, YouTube, etc.).
  • Maintain a consistent visual identity and voice across everything you make.

Website & AI experiences
  • Brainstorm and prototype unique ways to incorporate AI agents into the website experience and workflows.
  • Partner with our full-time engineer to build and ship agentic features.
  • Help translate brand guidelines into clean, responsive design as the site evolves (e.g., Figma - build).

General brand & comms support
  • Help organize and manage our asset library and content calendar.
  • Pitch in on campaigns, launches, and one-off creative needs as they come up

Qualifications
  • Strong creativity skills and the ability to think outside the box
  • Excellent communication and written abilities
  • Experience or interest in creative strategy and branding
  • Proficient writing skills and attention to detail
  • A passion for sustainable energy and clean technology is a plus
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a related field such as marketing, design, communications, or journalism
  • Open to learning and utilizing AI tools in creative processes

Who we're looking for
  • Strong interest in generative AI creative workflows
  • Understanding of digital marketing creative formats
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines while exploring new creative directions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and iterative environment
  • A proactive mindset and a willingness to experiment
  • Interest in storytelling through visual content

Nice to have
  • Interest in clean energy, sustainability, climate tech, or emerging technology brands
  • Basic understanding of photography composition and lighting
  • Experience creating visuals for social media or marketing campaigns
  • Interest or exposure to building and deploying AI agents
  • Familiarity with creative tools such as: Midjourney, Higgsfield, Photoshop, Canva, Figma, CapCut

Work Environment
  • In-person at our Miami office; open to remote for the right candidate
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to brand creative direction
  • Exposure to real-world marketing campaigns and product launches
  • A collaborative and fast-paced startup environment
