What you will do
As an Intern - Tech School, you will support Fire & Life Safety Inspectors with routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance of fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression systems. This role is designed for individuals enrolled in or recently graduated from a technical school or trade program and provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced technicians in real customer environments.
How you will do it
  • Assist with testing and inspection of fire alarm and life safety systems for new and existing customers
  • Learn and follow established inspection and testing procedures under direct supervision
  • Accurately document work performed using company-provided tools and systems
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements
  • Follow verbal and written instructions from lead technicians and supervisors
  • Safely carry and move tools and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs
  • Perform work in a variety of physical positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and using lift equipment
  • Support work on alternative shifts or weekends as needed to meet customer requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times

What we look for
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a technical school program related to electrical, fire protection, or life safety systems
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical labor in field environments
  • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn new skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and smartphone applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Commitment to working safely and professionally

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior hands-on exposure to electrical, fire alarm, or life safety systems through coursework, labs, or internships
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and testing equipment
  • Interest in pursuing NICET certification or a long-term career in Fire & Life Safety
