Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Long-term Intern (multi-semester) to join our Occupational Health & Safety team based in Grand Prairie, TX.
In this role you will assist the Safety Department in supporting a wide range of Safety activities including written program revision, program development, maintaining Safety Data Sheets, etc.
Your Working Environment:
A suburb just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area is home to Airbus Helicopters U.S. regional headquarters, where we have more than 1,000 employees. Check out one of the seven professional sports teams that also call Dallas home - you may even see a special, custom Airbus helicopter dedicated to the Dallas Cowboys flying during home games.
Your Challenges:
Health & Safety Program Support 60%
  • Provides administrative support executing activities at the site for the Health & Safety Manager.
  • Coordination of various Safety programs, activities, events, and initiatives.
  • Assists with ad hoc analysis, site assessments, and drills.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations primarily concerning OSHA.
  • Assist in the development of Policy and Procedures.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

Safety Management System (SMS) Implementation: 25%
  • Provide assistance and feedback to Safety on tracking, auditing, and performance of the SMS implementation.
  • Aid in the tracking and analysis of Top Company Objectives (TCO) and key internal performance parameters.
  • Assist in the Develop and maintenance of assurance dashboard for the H&S program

Safety Promotions/Training: 10%
  • Provides support for the Safety Department, assists with day-to-day which includes training development, presenting and tracking of safety training.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of Safety bulletin boards across all AHNA facilities.
  • Assist the Manager, Health & Safety in the day to day management of the Safety Ambassador Program

Additional Responsibilities: 5%
  • Data Analytics to help tracking H&S metrics, tracking and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass:
Required:
  • Must be currently local to the DFW metro area as this is a multi-semester, onsite work experience
  • Currently enrolled and working towards a Bachelor's degree in related degree program from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of analytical tools, reports, dashboards etc.
  • Authorized to Work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship
  • Must possess a high degree of accuracy in multiple facets of the job such as record keeping, etc.
  • Strong organization skills, meticulous, and prioritize to work on multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate optimally in verbal and written form in English
  • Excellent Excel, Word and Power Point skills

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or other related program
  • Occupational Health & Safety experience
  • Hands-on risk mitigation experience
  • Smartsheet, Tableau, PowerBI, and Google Suite.

Physical Requirements:
  • Onsite: Available during 1st shift daytime operations in Grand Prairie at least 20 hours per week.
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings on a daily basis.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms on a daily basis.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications on a daily basis.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts on an as-needed basis.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs on a daily basis.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs on a daily basis.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools on a daily basis.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer on a daily basis.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving on a daily basis.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor on a daily basis.
  • Travel: none.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces on a daily basis.
