Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individual for a Power Engineering Internship with our R&D Power & Automation department in Pullman, Washington. The ideal candidate will be available year-round, working part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer months. If you are a current local student looking for an opportunity to develop your electrical/power engineering skills, learn from industry leading engineers, and enhance your academic learning, then this may be the position for you!

As a Power Engineer Intern, a typical day might include the following:

  • Providing Technical support to SEL staff & customers.

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.

  • Developing automation tools to support power system analysis, testing, and engineering workflows.

  • Performing testing on new and existing technology.

  • Documenting and communicating test results.

This job might be for you if:

  • You are a current student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with at least two years of technical coursework completed.

  • You have practical knowledge of electrical power systems, including threephase circuits analysis and power flow.

  • You have some knowledge of power systems operation, control and protection concepts.

  • You have some experience with MATLAB, Simulink or PSCAD for power systems simulation.

  • You are willing to learn more about SEL protective relays and automation controllers.

  • You have the ability to use Microsoft Office software.

  • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

Pay Range Data
