Hours: 10-20 hours per week • September to December • Flexible Schedule
Selection Criteria: Based on education, work experience, merit, training, employee record, testing and interview.
Summary
This part-time internship involves assisting the Planning Division of the Building and Planning Department with projects related to Economic Development to collect data and update Township planning documents, datasets, and webpages.
Works under the general supervision of the Economic Development Specialist.
Duties
Assists with outreach to businesses and property owners for the reimplemented façade grant program.
Creates an Existing Conditions Report for the Haverford Commercial District, including developing mapping and photography.
Works to develop catalog of unified streetscape furniture design.
Gathers data and creates a database of property and building owners for future maintenance enforcement of sidewalk repairs and signage in Downtown Ardmore.
Qualifications
Current undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Planning, Economic Development, Community Development, Public Policy, or a related field required.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must have transportation to get to assignment at various locations throughout Township.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct outreach and interact with external organizations and businesses.
Proficiency in creating and managing spreadsheets, managing databases, and data entry.
Ability to conduct research and compile information in a report format.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for a minimum of 3 up to 5 hours, stand for a minimum of 1 up to 3 hours and walk or drive for a minimum of 1 up to 2 hours per workday.
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level, crouch and/or push or pull for up to 35% of the workday and lift up to 68% of the workday for general office procedures.
Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds of equipment continuously and up to 34 pounds of equipment up to 35% of the workday.
Ability to use both hands for simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive movements for general office procedures including typing, writing and drafting.
Ability to perform job functions using safety precautions where environmental conditions may be challenging.
This position is not eligible for Township-paid fringe benefits.
