Job description

General Summary
The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team with a wide range of projects and day-to-day administrative activities. This role provides exposure to multiple areas of Human Resources including recruiting, onboarding, HRIS administration, employee engagement, and HR compliance.
This internship is designed for students interested in building a career in Human Resources and offers hands-on experience supporting a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with recruitment and talent acquisition activities, including posting jobs, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications.
  • Support new hire onboarding, including preparing onboarding documentation and assisting with orientation logistics.
  • Help maintain and update employee records within the HRIS system (Paylocity).
  • Assist with policy acknowledgements, compliance tracking, and HR documentation.
  • Support HR initiatives related to employee engagement, internal communications, and company events.
  • Assist with HR reporting, data entry, and audit preparation.
  • Provide administrative support for HR projects including policy updates, process improvements, and training materials.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee information.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field at a Virginia public or private University or College
  • Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources or People Operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with HRIS or applicant tracking systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Extended periods of sitting and using computer peripherals.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds for event setup or promotional material handling.
