As an intern you will participate in our nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Aiken, SC facility from June-August. Relocation will not be offered, and housing is not provided. This position is expected to be full-time (40 hours / week) during the summer and part-time (16-20 hours/ weel) with flexibilty.
The Combat Vehicles line of business within the Platforms & Services (P&S) Sector of BAE Systems is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the assembly of armored military vehicles. As a leading global defense, security, and aerospace company, we offer a dynamic and challenging work environment where you can apply theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills. We are looking for an Engineering student to join our Quality Team as an entry level intern. The Quality Assurance Intern will assist in the evaluation and improvement of supplier performance; ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, focusing on process optimization, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
As a Supplier Quality Assurance Intern, you will:
  • Conducting site visits to assess supplier facilities, processes, and products
  • Reviewing and analyzing supplier documentation, such as quality manuals and procedures
  • Identifying and documenting supplier quality issues and developing corrective action plans
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvements
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of supplier quality metrics and dashboards

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering,Quality Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management
  • Relevant coursework in quality control, supply chain management, and engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis tools is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949
  • Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $39292 - $53055
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
