ABOUT THE POSITION

The Seasonal Elevator Operator position is responsible for assisting with the receiving, storing, and shipping of grain at the Company’s grain elevator and other grain storage facilities. This position is currently a seasonal/temporary role. However, a potential full time opportunity may be available where applicable. A description of the duties includes:

  • Dumps grain and/or loads railcars or trucks, clean up grain spills;
  • Inspects grain for insects, moisture, and foreign material while unloading grain trucks;
  • Reads grain temperatures at various levels in storage tanks in a timely manner meeting;
  • Starts conveyors, selects flow pipes, sets trippers, and selects storage tanks to convey grain into storage or appropriate destination;
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on all elevator equipment;
  • Assists with inventory controls as directed by your supervisor;
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of vehicles and equipment as qualified and report issues;
  • Promotes company and branch location employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork and shared services;
  • Responsible for maintaining clean facilities, and complying with all state and federal regulations pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulation compliance;
  • Attends training and safety meetings;
  • Provides excellent customer service;
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management;
  • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
  • Present a clean and professional appearance;
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to multitask and be mechanically inclined.
  • This position requires the employee to work outdoors in various weather conditions and have the ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
