 JOB DESCRIPTION


The Hospitality Game Day Intern plays a vital role in the success of MSU Athletics Hospitality by supporting the Hospitality Manager. The game day intern will work closely with athletic donors and other members of the athletic department. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone interested in sports management, event management, and hospitality in collegiate sports.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES


Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:

  • Learn and administer policies and procedures regarding admission, food and beverage, maintenance, and other premium area operations
  • Assist in managing designated premium areas on game days (to include every home MSU Football and MSU Men's and Women's Basketball games, additional events may vary)
  • Staffing and supervision of 50+ gameday staff
  • Ensure all game day policies and procedures are being upheld
  • Preparing, organizing, and maintaining game day supplies and materials
  • Ensure spaces are prepped and maintained before, during, and after events
  • Maintain communication with game day staff members, athletic donors, and athletics personnel
  • Deliver the finest hospitality and service by going above & beyond every day
  • Must be able to handle pressure and demonstrate a sense of humor while operating in a challenging environment where not everything is always completely under their control
  • Support day-to-day general office operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

AVAILABILITY and OPPORTUNITIES 

  • Must be able to work the entire length of the internship (August 2026 - December 2026)
  • Must be able to work ALL MSU home football games and the day prior to the game
  • Experience in hospitality or guest relations is preferred
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Great verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to stand for long periods of time
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office suite, Canva
  • Be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • This is a paid position; the current pay rate is $14.00/hour.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g. event materials)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach
  • Manual dexterity to handle event materials and technology
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including outdoor spaces
  • Good visual acuity and attention to detail

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced conditions during events
  • Frequent interaction with clients, vendors, donors, and large groups
