A Technician Intern will work alongside a qualified mentor and participate in a Warren CAT-sponsored program to develop the knowledge and expertise to become a Caterpillar Technician. 

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Work under the guidance of a Warren CAT Mentor to: 

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar Engines and Machinery.
  • Utilize hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, laptops, diagnostic software, cranes, and rigging equipment.
  • Understand engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Adhere to service manuals and technical guidelines to ensure repairs meet Caterpillar standards and accurately document all service and repair activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED: 

  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher during the internship.
  • Arrange for housing near the school campus and the local Warren CAT location if required.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Successfully complete the Work Steps assessment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Required travel up to 5%.
