Overview

As a Co-op, you will be part of the team from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactful to our projects' success.  

Success in this role depends on the Co-op’s initiative and teamwork skills. A successful Co-op will work in a team environment to dimension and annotate CAD drawings for use in the field from drawings developed by designers and engineers that are consistent with the Revit standards set forth at McKenney’s. 

McKenney's has a long history of success in hiring Co-ops and supporting their evolution into industry leaders. Many of our current senior leaders began their journey in the Co-op program. 

Responsibilities

  • Utilize McKenney’s drafting standards to create and edit shop drawings in Revit. 

  • Utilize McKenney’s drafting standards to create and edit spool sheets for fabrication in Stratus. 

  • Dimension and annotate drawings developed by designers. 

  • Draft redline as-built drawings from project managers and field leaders in Revit. 

  • Learn layering techniques, pen weights, etc. required to produce a clear and legible drawing. 

  • Produce all documents in Bluebeam in a timely manner based on job requirements to meet the commitments to our customers, both internal and external. 

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in BIM, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related degree. 

  • Candidates must complete at least two full-time alternating Co-op rotations before graduation and should avoid a full courseload while working, which may delay graduation.  

  • 1st Rotation: Summer 2027 

  • 2nd Rotation: Spring 2028 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural documents. 

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing design and shop drawings. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Able to manage time effectively, contribute to team goals, and adapt to evolving project needs.  

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to learning. 

  • Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently. 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS 

  • 6 months experience with Revit 2022 or higher. 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment. 

  • No or limited exposure to physical risk; occasional jobsite visits may require climbing permanent and temporary stairs/ladders, passenger use of hoists, and navigating active construction areas. 

  • Light physical effort handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds may be required occasionally.
