Job description

Job Description: 

The Design Drafter position at Zeeco in the Vapor Control group, focusing on skidded equipment packages. Will utilize a combination of Autodesk Plant 3D, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical to create Piping Specs, Smart P&IDs and Smart 3D Models, linked to Bill of Material's. The Drafter/Designer will then create fabrication drawings, from all base files and assemblies. This position requires Plant previous packaged equipment, or similar experience. Experience with Plant 3D is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Drafting of equivalent combination of experience and certification.
  • 10+ years of drafting/design experience using AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Autodesk Inventor, & Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360).
  • Ability to model piping and structural steel in a 3D environment.
  • Experience creating and maintaining a specification catalogs and piping specs.
  • Experience creating piping isometrics and steel fabrication drawings.
  • Experience in the review of vendor drawings and interface points.
  • Knowledge of and ability to read and create P&ID's & PFD's.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 Code for Pressure Piping.
  • Piping and structural steel background a plus.
  • Must be able to handle fast passed projects, while handling multiple tasks at a time, and have the ability to switch tasks rapidly as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Analyzes project mechanical specifications / requirements to design appropriate equipment for the application.
  • Assists engineering team with confirmation of equipment selection and design.
  • Prepares various drawings of parts, assemblies, and products, including various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse views, hidden lines and small intricate details.
  • Utilizes Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) system or equivalent to complete assignments in both 2D and 3D.
  • Makes arithmetic computations using standard formulas.
  • Assignments may include information on methods, procedures, sources of information, precedents to follow, and more detailed verbal instructions from project engineer and/or supervisor. Simple revisions to existing drawings may be assigned with a verbal explanation of desired results.
  • Assists project engineers in ensuring all required drawings are completed and meets project requirements. Assists with reviewing customer mark-up prints and disposition of comments.
  • Shop/site visits and travel to assist with design changes as required per the project and to assist shop personnel with guidelines for production of equipment.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Word / Excel / Adobe and all Web based systems for design completion.
  • Check own and other Drafter/Designer's drawings for accuracy.
